Ballet Classes

Ballet is the foundation of all dance and gives the students core stability, coordination, musicality and dance presence. All our ballet classes are run by a fully qualified RAD teacher. We offer a variety of classes starting with our baby classes up to advanced 1.

Baby Classes (From 2 Years)

This class is an hour long class which consists of 30 minutes of Ballet a 5 minute juice and shoe change break followed by a 25 minute Tap class. This is a fun way of learning basic movement, rhythm and coordination whilst also developing social skills.

Pre-Primary

This is a 45 minute RAD Ballet class followed by a 30 minute Tap class. This class leads to the first formal RAD examination at the age of 5 years and over and is the first step onto the RAD Syllabus.

At this stage the teacher goes into the exam with the students which will help build their confidence and understanding of exam circumstances whilst having their Ballet teacher there.

Primary

This class shares a 30 minute Tap class with the pre-primary’s and is followed by a 45 minute RAD Primary Ballet class. This class develops posture, technique, muscle tone and control.

The music in the syllabus is uplifting and makes you just want to dance. The class is very enjoyable with students being enthusiastic about the work.

Junior Ballet (Grades 1-3)

These are 45 minute RAD Ballet classes following the new syllabi. These classes continue to build on strength, technique and knowledge of the syllabus whilst continuing the development of dance presence and musicality.

Senior Dance (Grades 4-8)

These are 45 minute RAD Ballet classes which continue to improve flexibility, coordination and technical skills at a higher level whilst also creating a fun and social environment. Grades 6-8 Ballet focuses more on dance presence and a lot of the exercises are like mini dances which builds on stamina.

Vocational Grades (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced 1)

These are major syllabus classes for those serious about dancing and perhaps for those wanting to further a career in dance. These classes are also suitable for more mature students who have perhaps taken a break from dancing and wish to return.

Intermediate Foundation is advised for students studying at Grades 4-5 level, Intermediate is advised for students studying at grades 6-8 level and Advanced 1 may only be taken when passed at intermediate level in an exam.

Pointe Class

This is a 30 minute class which consist of a warm up and strengthening exercises on demi-pointe leading to pointe shoes when each individual student is deemed ready by the teacher.

This then continues to build a stronger and more competent technique on the pointe shoe. This class also helps in return with graded classes as it increases muscle control and strengthens the feet, legs, core stability and overall stance and posture.
